About me
My story
I was one of those people who didn’t have to look for work – work found me. I was head-hunted out of university to become a fundraising consultant. I spent over 15 years in that field and even founded my own company. It was great helping non profits from every sphere do more with limited resources.
Over time I noticed that many organisations were in dire need of a safe and suitable physical space. There never seemed to be enough time, enough money, and enough reliable options that would meet their needs. And so time went on with leaking roofs, damp offices, freezing spaces, and doors that didn’t close.
I often wondered how much more effective could these non-profits be if they had decent offices?
My curiosity outweighed my fears and I decided to become a carpenter. Manual talent? Nope. Family in the business? Nope. Experience in the field? Nada.
Wood + creativity seemed to light up my world. And so, I returned to school full-time to be a carpenter and completed my diploma in 2018.
Every human on the planet deserves equal opportunity to explore career options.
I realize I am privileged living in a society where we acknowledge this and do our best to achieve it. I also believe we need more colors, cultures, languages and sexes in the construction field.
It is also time to revolutionize the way we deliver renovation/construction services; whether it be for building a backyard deck or a 30-floor commercial space.
Driven by passion, integrity and empathy, I strive to heighten the bar and expectations in the construction field.
